Economic Crisis Result of Unlimited Greed: Dalai Lama

Sarnath, Varanasi, UP, India, 16 January 2009 (PTI) - Tibetan Spiritual leader the Dalai Lama today said the main cause of global financial meltdown is"unlimited human greed".
"I am not an economist but it is difficult for a common man
to understand how market forces can be beyond the human control because
markets are the creation of human beings themselves,"the Dalai Lama
said at a press conference here. He said that in his view the economic crisis was the result of unlimited greed, a lack of transparency and lies."Owing
to these factors, things nearly collapse,"he added. The Tibetan guru
opined that spirituality has the power to teach containment,
truthfulness, honesty and morality."These things will not occur if one becomes tolerant and spiritual,"he added.
Stressing that media has a very important role to play in the given
situation, the spiritual leader said,"We write as if there is no future
but it is also important to show that'yes', there is a future". Media must play a more positive role in making and shaping the world.
