H.H. the Dalai Lama Begins Buddhist Teaching

Dharamsala, HP, 19 May 2007 (OHHDL) - His Holiness the Dalai Lama began a 12-day teaching on Commentary on Guhyasamaja at the main Tibetan Temple in Dharamsala.  More than 2600 people were attending these advanced teachings, including over 2000 monks and nuns and 169 foreigners.  A pre-requisite for attending these teachings was to have already received the Guhyasamaja Initiation.  The teachings end on May 30.

He spoke to them briefly: "Tibet is known as the Roof of the World, but also as the Land of Avalokiteshvara. We Tibetans have our own language, with its own writing, which is the best medium for accurately explaining Buddhist teachings."
