Urgent Notice - Jispa & Manali Teachings

August 9th 2010

The entire visit to Jispa cannot be 100% confirmed because of problems being faced with travel logistics. The terrible road conditions makes it not possible for His Holiness to travel by road. Travel by helicopter will depend on weather conditions and other safety factors. In lieu of this, we have scheduled the confirmed visit to Manali first. The visit to Jispa will tentatively follow the visit to Manali. His Holiness will give a 1/2 day teaching on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo's 37 Practices of A Boddhisattva (laklen sodunma) in Manali on August 18. His Holiness will tentatively give teachings in Jispa on August 20 to 22. On August 20 he will teach on Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (jangchup lamdron). On August 21 he will confer the Heruka (dechok) Initiation. On August 22 he will confer the Avalokiteshvera (chenresig) Initiation.

Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India, 30 November 2016 - When His Holiness the Dalai Lama met about 1000 pilgrims from Tibet today, many in traditional attire, their faces bright with anticipation, he told them that since they had come to India on pilgrimage or to visit relatives, he thought he would talk to them about Buddhism before they returned home. “Buddhism spread the length and breadth of Tibet,” he told them, “but not that many people really understand what Buddhism is about.”
