His Holiness the Dalai Lama Expresses His Sadness and Concern over the Recent Earthquake in Italy

Udine, Italy, 23 May 2012 - In a letter to the Prime Minister of Italy, His Excellency Mario Monti, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his sadness and concern about the loss of lives and damage to property caused by the recent earthquake that rocked areas nearby Bologna.

His Holiness offered his condolences to the families that have lost loved ones and prayers for the deceased and others affected by the earthquake.

As a token of sympathy and concern, a donation is being made to support the relief work.
